I was born in Riverside, California and attended grade school in Nayarit, Mexico. I graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2000 after my family relocated to Washington when I was a teen.

I was the first in my family to graduate high school and the first to attend college at the University of Washington, graduating in 2004, with a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish minor. After college, I worked and volunteered for several organizations serving the needs of immigrants and low-wage workers including at the Skagit County Volunteer Lawyer Program, and the Domestic Violence Justice Project as a legal assistant. I helped create Tonalli, a youth-at-risk and prevention non-profit center, serving Latino youth in Skagit and hosted “Radio Rebelde” a weekly Spanish-radio show discussing community issues and ways for community involvement.

To become a better advocate, I pursued my dreams of a legal career and obtained a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2012 and have been practicing since then. While in law school, I volunteered with Casa Latina’s Comite de Defensa al Trabajador, interned for the Unemployment Law Project, and conducted Know Your Rights (KYR) and DACA workshops throughout King and Skagit Counties. I credit my mother’s high work ethic and my Chicana professor’s encouragement and knowledge for helping me achieve my goal of becoming a community lawyer.

I know first-hand the struggle of farm workers in the Pacific Northwest, and I take pride in being an advocate for all workers and clients. In the past nine years, I have represented clients in a number of civil matters including protecting them against exploitative employers, immigration matters, family law and personal injury.

I have a teenage daughter and spend most of my free time exploring Washington.
